Carolyn Tripp

Carolyn Tripp is a ceramicist whose work weaves memory, observation, and emotion into form and decoration. Wheel-thrown in her Wimbledon studio using Audrey Blackman porcelain, each piece is adorned with intricate screen-printed ceramic transfers, layering visual storytelling onto delicate surfaces.

Her fascination with ceramics began in childhood, influenced by her grandmother’s oriental pot collection and her Great Uncle Bernard, a BBC writer in China. His illustrated postcards and stories sparked her love for ceramics, further deepened when he gifted her a small Imari bottle—a treasured piece that continues to inspire her.

Exploring themes of love, loss, and nostalgia, Carolyn’s porcelain pieces stand alone yet form a cohesive narrative when grouped together. The interplay of fine porcelain and layered imagery creates work that feels both fragile and powerful, inviting quiet contemplation and a deep connection between maker and viewer.
