Nick Rees

Nick Lees, a Somerset potter since 1972, spent 46 years working alongside John Leach at Muchelney Pottery. Now working from his home studio, he continues to use the same clay body but focuses solely on his personal, signed work, fired electrically. This shift allows him greater creative freedom while staying rooted in the Leach tradition.

Nick’s ceramics embrace a refined design aesthetic, featuring clean forms, subtle carving, and delicate fluting. His experiments with slips and glazes explore variations in texture, depth, and color, blending tradition with innovation.

Balancing craftsmanship and creativity, Nick’s work is both timeless and contemporary. Each piece reflects his deep understanding of materials and form, embodying heritage while allowing for personal expression.
