Big Conversations, Real Challenges… and Hands in Clay
This week, we were delighted to welcome leading voices from across the ceramics industry to Valentine Clays for an early morning round table discussion joined by MP Chris McDonald, Minister for Construction.
The session brought together key figures from across the sector to explore some of the most pressing challenges currently facing ceramics. From rising energy costs to the broader pressures impacting manufacturers and makers across the UK, the conversation was open, honest, and focused on finding a way forward.
Moments like these are vital. They create space not only to highlight the realities our industry is navigating, but also to ensure that those shaping policy have a clear understanding of the sector’s needs, strengths, and future potential.
Following the discussion, guests were invited to tour our factory, offering a closer look at the processes, people, and innovation behind what we do at Valentine Clays.
And then the highlight of the morning.
It was time to step up to the wheel.
Chris threw his very first pot, embracing the challenge with enthusiasm (and we think he did a great job). It was a reminder that ceramics is something that truly comes to life through experience.
Because to understand this industry, you have to get your hands in the clay.
From policy to practice.
From conversation to creation.
A brilliant morning for the ceramics community and an important step in continuing to shape its future.
