The LoStone family has grown again – and this time, we’re moving into completely new territory.
Following the success of our award-winning LoStone low-fire stoneware range, we have launched our first ever collection of LoStone Mid Fire Glazes.
Developed to complement the LoStone clay range, the collection features 10 brush-on glazes – nine colours and one clear translucent glaze – giving makers a versatile new palette designed for lower and mid-temperature firing.

A New Chapter for LoStone
Since launching LoStone in 2025, our technical team has continued to explore how we can build on the benefits of lower-temperature stoneware firing.
Moving into glazes was a natural next step, but also a completely new product category for Valentine Clays.
The result is a collection developed through extensive testing, trials and feedback, designed to offer flexibility across a broad firing range.
One Collection, Different Results
The LoStone Mid Fire Glazes have an overall firing range of 1080°C to 1220°C, with the character of the glaze developing as the firing temperature increases.
Between 1080°C and 1120°C, the glazes produce a more consistent, non-reactive finish.
Between 1120°C and 1220°C (approximately cone 4–6), their reactive qualities develop, producing increased movement, variation and depth.
This means firing temperature can become another part of the creative process, allowing makers to explore different results from the same glaze.
As with any glaze and clay combination, we always recommend producing test tiles at your chosen firing temperature before committing to a finished piece.

Made to Experiment
The collection has been designed with experimentation in mind.
The glazes can be intermixed and layered, with up to three coats in total, opening up even more possibilities beyond the individual colours in the range.
Although created to sit alongside LoStone, they aren't limited to it. The collection can also be used with porcelain and earthenware, giving makers plenty of scope to test different clay, glaze and temperature combinations.
Each glaze is supplied in a 550ml brush-on format, complete with a reusable inner cap.

Expanding the LoStone Story
LoStone began with a simple challenge: could we produce a stoneware body capable of achieving vitrification at significantly lower temperatures than conventional stoneware?
Since then, it has developed into a growing family of clay bodies – and now glazes and casting slips too.
The launch of our Mid Fire Glaze Collection represents another step in that journey and, for Valentine Clays, an entirely new area of ceramics.
After more than 47 years making clay, we're rather excited to see what you make with our first ever glazes.
