LoStone is no longer just for throwers and hand-builders.
For the first time, our award-winning low-fire stoneware range is now available as a casting slip, bringing the LoStone concept to slip casters.
The new collection launches in three colours – Frost, Sea Mist and Ember – expanding the possibilities of the LoStone range while retaining the lower-temperature approach at the heart of its development.
LoStone, Now for Casters

When we first developed LoStone, our aim was to challenge the temperatures traditionally associated with vitrified stoneware.
The original range demonstrated that a stoneware clay body could achieve the strength and vitrification makers expect while firing considerably lower than conventional stoneware temperatures.
Since its launch, our technical team has continued developing the range – and creating a casting version was an important part of that next stage.
The result is a range of slips designed specifically for makers who work with moulds and casting techniques.
Three LoStone Colours
The initial LoStone Casting Slip collection is available in three colours taken from the existing LoStone palette:
-
Frost – a versatile off-white.

- Sea Mist – a delicate light grey with pale blue undertones at lower temperatures.

- Ember – a warm, burnt-red body that brings a stronger natural colour to the collection.

The three options give casters the opportunity to explore distinctly different bases while working within the LoStone family.
Lower-Firing Stoneware for Casting
Like the original LoStone concept, the casting slip range has been developed around achieving vitrification at a lower temperature than would traditionally be expected from stoneware.
This brings the LoStone approach to a completely different making process and opens up new opportunities for both studio and production casting.
As always, firing results can vary according to kiln, firing cycle, glaze and form, so we recommend carrying out your own testing before moving into production or firing finished work.
The LoStone Family Keeps Growing
The introduction of casting slips marks another significant step for LoStone.
What began as the UK’s first low-fire stoneware clay range has continued to evolve, with new bodies, glazes and now casting slips developed by our technical team here in Stoke-on-Trent.
And we're not finished yet.
