Following the success of LoStone, the UK’s first low-fire stoneware, we’re expanding the collection this September with two exciting new additions: LoStone Mid Fire Glazes and LoStone Casting Slips.
Developed to give ceramic artists and makers even more ways to work with LoStone, the new products take the range beyond plastic clay to create a more complete making system from forming and casting through to the finished surface.
The Perfect Partnership: LoStone Mid Fire Glazes
The new LoStone Mid Fire Glaze Collection has been developed specifically to complement the natural tones and firing characteristics of LoStone.
The collection features nine nature-inspired colours plus a clear translucent glaze, ranging from rich woodland greens and soft floral tones to tranquil blues and deep, moody hues.
Available in easy-to-use 550ml brush-on bottles, the glazes are fully intermixable, giving makers the freedom to blend colours and develop their own unique palette.
With an overall firing range of 1080–1220°C, becoming reactive between 1120–1220°C, the collection offers plenty of opportunity to explore different surfaces, colours and effects.
While LoStone was the starting point, the glazes can also be used with compatible porcelain and earthenware clay bodies, making them a versatile addition to the studio.
Each bottle also includes a reusable inner cap, designed to help prevent leaks and keep glaze securely sealed between uses.
LoStone, Now Made for Casting
Launching alongside the new glaze collection is a range of LoStone Casting Slips to bring three of the range’s distinctive natural tones into liquid form:
Frost · Sea Mist · Ember
Developed for consistent casting performance, the new slips allow makers to achieve the characteristic look of LoStone while opening the range up to slip casting, mould work and repeat forms.
With vitrification at 1180°C, the slips retain one of the principles at the heart of LoStone: achieving a strong, vitrified ceramic body at a lower firing temperature than conventional stoneware.
Continuing the LoStone Story
Since launching in 2025, LoStone has challenged the traditional distinction between earthenware and stoneware, offering makers a vitrified stoneware body at significantly lower firing temperatures.
Its development has already been recognised with the Innovation, Science & Technology Award at the Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards 2026, while LoStone is also a finalist in the Science & Innovation category at the Staffordshire University Business Awards 2026.
The new glazes and casting slips mark the next stage in that journey.
Together, they give makers more choice in how they form, colour and finish their work, while retaining the lower-firing approach that inspired LoStone in the first place.

Both collections will receive their first exclusive previews this September, beginning with our Distributor Day on 9th September, followed by our sold-out Open Day on 10th September.
With Open Day tickets selling out in a record 2.5 hours, attendees will be among the first to see the new products in action, with dedicated demonstrations and hands-on sessions exploring both casting and glazing.
