Carol Rogerson

Carol Rogerson’s ceramics are inspired by the colours, silhouettes, and industrial architecture of the North, reflecting a fusion of heritage and contemporary design. Based in Manchester and raised in Lancashire, she draws from the region’s industrial landscape, incorporating its bold forms and textures into her work.

Her pieces are crafted from earthy red stoneware, embossed using a self-developed printing technique that allows her to create distinctive designs. Traditional wheel-thrown forms are combined with printed clay surfaces, with rich, natural colours enhanced through gas reduction firing. The contrast between the raw, textured stoneware and the smooth elegance of porcelain adds depth to her aesthetic.

Recently, she has been drawn to creating more functional ceramics, a natural evolution of her industrial influences. Curiosity drives her to experiment with new shapes, glazes, and compositions, blending statement details with understated ornamentation to bring artistry into everyday use.
