Ashraf Hanna

Ashraf Hanna is an Egyptian-born British ceramic artist renowned for his innovative, hand-built forms that fuse tradition with modern sensibilities. Growing up in Egypt surrounded by ancient pottery traditions, he developed a deep appreciation for classical forms, a passion that was further refined during his studies at El Minia College of Fine Arts and later at the Royal College of Art in London.

Working from his studio in West Wales, Hanna transforms simple pinch pots into dynamic sculptural vessels using soft clay slabs, precise cutting, and layered surface treatments.

His work, celebrated for the elegant interplay of gentle curves and bold lines, reflects both his rich cultural heritage and the dramatic landscapes of his adopted home, earning him international acclaim and placement in prestigious collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Fitzwilliam Museum.
